How to prevent postural back pain

Hygiene back posture:

Patients often come with back pain caused by bad daily habits; these ailments are accentuated after a long vacation combined with returning to routine.

The most common causes of these ailments are the following:

  • Maintaining postures both standing and sitting.
  • Bad postures during sleep.
  • Bad posture when exposed to carrying weight
  • At older ages due to caring for grandchildren during the summer or Christmas.

How to correct postures according to each assumption:

In the case of exposing ourselves to a job in which we are required to stand for many hours, we will notice that the legs and the lumbar spine area will suffer, so we must maintain good posture as shown in the image. We must accompany him with weight shifts from one leg to the other. If we work seated, we should maintain a posture making a 90-degree angle between the back and the legs, keeping the elbows at the height of the table.

The best sleeping position is the fetal position since it respects the physiological curves of the spine, although part of the population sleeps face up or face down, in these cases we have to take into account the position to be acquired: placing a pillow or cushion on different areas.

In the case of exposing ourselves to carrying weight at work or carrying out domestic activities for a long time, we must take several things into account. In the case of carrying weight, we must bend the knees and lift the weight together with the trunk knees so that the Weight is distributed throughout the body when lifting it.

Once we are clear about the postures to acquire, we can combine or reinforce them with personalized Pilates classes to reinforce or work on each person's ailments according to each case, combining it with good manual therapy to be able to begin returning to work normally and without pain.
