dry needling

Dry needling is a specialized physical therapy technique that involves inserting fine needles into specific muscle points, known as myofascial trigger points, with the objective of ease the pain and improve muscle function.

Although dry needling uses needles similar to acupuncture, the technique is based on physiological principles and anatomical western.

During the procedure, the physical therapist identifies and treats trigger points, which are hyperirritable areas in the muscles associated with the generation and perpetuation of pain. Insertion of the needle causes a relaxation response in the affected muscle, improving blood circulation and releasing analgesic chemicals.

Dry needling is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal disorders such as muscle contractures, myofascial pain and limitations in mobility. It is important to note that dry needling must be performed by properly trained physiotherapists and authorized as the Retiro Clinics team.

Diathermy

Diathermy is a advanced technique used in physical therapy for the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions and related pathologies.

This therapeutic method is based on controlled application of high frequency currents that generate deep heat in the tissues, promoting a series of benefits. Diathermy helps improve local blood circulation, increase the extensibility of connective tissues, relieve muscle stiffness and reduce inflammation.

Furthermore, this therapeutic modality contributes to cell regeneration and accelerates the healing process in cases of muscle, tendon or joint injuries. Diathermy, therefore, has become a hvaluable tool for physiotherapists, offering an effective and safe option to improve function and relieve pain in patients with various musculoskeletal conditions.

Magnetotherapy

Magnetotherapy is a therapeutic modality used in physiotherapy that is based on application of magnetic fields to stimulate biological processes and promote recovery from conditions.

This approach is based on the idea that magnetic fields can positively influence the cellular environment, promoting tissue regeneration and repair. During a magnetotherapy session, the patient is exposed in a controlled manner to these magnetic fields, which penetrate deep tissues, improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation.

It has been observed that magnetotherapy can be beneficial in the pain management, especially in cases of musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis. Additionally, this technique can contribute to accelerating the healing process in muscle and bone injuries.
